Meleana Aurelio
Aloha kakou! My name is Meleana Aurelio, and I moved to Bellevue, Washington from Maui Hawaii in 2020. In Hawaii, I was a first seat outrigger canoe paddler, competitive gymnast and swimmer. My family and I would always be at the beach or hiking whenever school wasn’t in session. At the age of 12, my friend asked me to tryout for a volleyball club. I made the Lanakila Volleyball team and fell in love with volleyball as an outside hitter.
In Washington, I found my volleyball family with Northwest Juniors soon after moving to the state. With NWJRS, I’ve been an all around outside hitter as well as a middle hitter. As a Bellevue High School Wolverine, I was an outside hitter my freshman JV year and Varsity player sophomore through senior year. I also participated in Track and field at the county, district and state championships since my freshman year in the Javelin event. My senior year, I won first place at county and district championships, with winning 3rd place at the 3A state championships in Tacoma, Washington. My farthest throw of the 2024 season broke the Bellevue High School Javelin record at 135’1” with the previous record at 131’ since 2000. My continued athletic adventures will be as a Triton outside hitter at Edmonds College throughout 2024-2026, and possibly transferring to University to continue volleyball as well as track to get my masters degree in Kinesiology.
Michael Masters
I plan to attend The Ohio State University, majoring in Business and Computer Science as part of the Integrated Business and Engineering Honors Program. While I am unsure what my long-term career goals are, I am confident that my high school experiences have prepared me well for the rest of my life.
Throughout my time at Bellevue, I tried to give back to the community that raised and gave me so much. To accomplish this, I amassed over 500 volunteer hours throughout high school. Some of my projects included sewing over 400 masks to donate to the Bellevue School District during COVID-19 and routinely helping the Bellevue Farmers Market. I have received several awards for volunteering, including the Presidential Service Award and the Wolverine Guard Award, for all four years I attended Bellevue HS.
My passion for water sports extended beyond the classroom. I was not just a participant but a leader in the Bellevue water sports community. As a captain of the Bellevue High School Swim team for 2 years, a 4-year varsity member, and a member of the Water Polo team for 2 years and captain for 1 year, I was able to inspire and guide my teammates. My leadership extended beyond the competitive arena, as I also served as a youth swim coach and a lifeguard at a local pool, further contributing to the development of the water sports community in Bellevue.
